This report was produced by the LA84 Foundation (formerly the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles ) in conjunction with Statistical Research Inc, in 1999. The national survey was conducted among children aged eight to seventeen, and explores their exposure to sports through various forms of media including television, radio, newspapers, books, journals, video games, the Internet, and films. This is the second study sponsored and produced by the LA84 Foundation (formerly the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles) examining media treatment of women and sport. This report published in 1991 is based on the quantity of coverage in four daily newspapers named in 1990 by the Associated Press as being in the top ten daily sports sections in the USA.
