运动不仅令人体格健康，还有助于精神卫生，能够有效抗击抑郁。近日，美国一项研究揭示了运动能对抗抑郁的原理，这一原理将被用于新一代抗抑郁药的开发。

VGF基因可抗抑郁

运动对健康有许多好处，除了能激发身体各个部位的活力外，它还可以令人心情愉快，从而有效抗击抑郁。医生在治疗抑郁症患者时也往往鼓励他们进行适量的锻炼。然而，运动为何能抗击抑郁？这其中的原理却一直不为科学界所了解。

近日，耶鲁大学的研究人员在罗纳德·杜曼教授的领导下，终于发现了运动抗抑郁背后的原理。原来，它掌握在一个叫VGF的大脑基因中。

杜曼教授和同事一起对运动过的小鼠大脑和静止不动的小鼠大脑进行了比较，结果发现，一个叫VGF的基因在运动过的小鼠大脑中格外活跃，而在没有运动的小鼠大脑中则不活跃。

研究人员在研究中进一步发现，VGF发挥作用时会在小鼠大脑中产生强劲的抗抑郁反应。而对小鼠中的VGF进行基因变异，令其不够活跃，则会产生相反的效果。

“这一研究提供了揭示运动抗击抑郁原理的直接证据。”杜曼说。有媒体称，这一发现不仅强调了锻炼的重要性，而且，为抗抑郁药的研制提供了与以前截然不同的全新思路。

杜曼教授指出：“利用锻炼激活VGF基因并将其用于抗抑郁药的研制比目前的化学抗抑郁药更好，因为它已经存在于大脑中。”

1/5人口会遭遇抑郁症

根据一项全球性统计，1/5的人口会在一生中的某个阶段遭遇抑郁症。在英国，有超过290万人被诊断患有抑郁症。而有3/4的抑郁症案例没有得到足够的认识，也没有得到及时治疗。

英国还有统计显示，1/6的严重抑郁症患者最终以自杀方式了结生命，而70％的记录在案的自杀者是某种程度的抑郁症患者。

These studies use in vivo approaches to link VGF to the antidepressant-like behavioral effects produced by antidepressant drugs and exercise.
